Gay rights recognised around the globe

From next year gay couples in New Zealand will be able to joined in civil unions. Heterosexual couples not wanting to get married but wanting special rights (such as child custody and taxation) will also be able to get civil unions. The bill was passed 65 to 55 votes. The parliament erupted into applause after the result was known.

And that’s not the only good news… The Canadian Supreme court has said the government can legalise gay marriage in the provinces where it is not already legal. And this is on the heels of Spain’s decision to legalise gay marriage. And not to forget the American state of Massachusetts, which this year became the first U.S. state to legalise gay marriage.

Now if only the rest of America could free its self from the shackles of homophobia and realise that gay marriage does not undermine “normal” marriage. In my opinion not legalising gay marriage makes marriage look stupid, cause then it’s not really about love at all. Thank you Canada and New Zealand and Spain and the rest of the countries around the world that recognise love doesn’t fit one form.

Party animal John

Last night Australian Prime Minister John Howard celebrated the fact that he is now officially the second longest serving Australian PM with a “quiet dinner at home.” But did he really? At first glance Little Johnny doesn’t come across as the life of the party but could a wild party animal be hiding behind that nerdish demeanour? Today Little Johnny addressed a group of Chinese businessmen and his voice was noticeably hoarse. A quiet dinner, eh? I bet, you little devil, you!

Fox’s Funny Farm

Yesterday the morons at Faux News Channel’s Fox and Friends were upset over some disparaging comments of their great leader. At some event actor Chevy Chase attacked President Chimp (and good on him!) And the reason why Fox and Friends were pissed? Well because they’re not fair and balanced, they’re the Republican Channel and any attack on Bush is just not right. It’s not American! Remember, freedom of speech is anti-American. Freedom is not the American way!

And if that wasn’t bad enough, listen to this. They said he had no right to hate Chimp because, and wait for it, Chevy Chase has not met George Bush…

Oh my freaking god!!! How stupid can these people get? How more Republican suck holes can they be? So going by that way of thinking anyone who has not met Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein cannot hate them!

Thank you Faux for more excellent fair and balanced reporting. I don’t know how anyone could ever accuse you of right wing leanings.

Jeremy Hinzman is a true American hero

Former paratrooper Jeremy Hinzman fled to Canada earlier this year, seeking asylum. He called the invasion of Iraq illegal and said he feared being asked to commit atrocities. During an asylum hearing a few days ago a U.S. marine testified that his unit murdered more than 30 innocent civilians over two days. It will not be known until February 2005 if Hinzman is given asylum. Let’s hope so.

Jeremy Hinzman is a truly great man, and for me represents a true American. He is sticking up for what he believes in. He is fighting to the truth, honour and human rights. Good on you Jeremy, we hope you’re granted asylum to live in the great country of Canada.

Let's just hope more American soldiers do this. It is an illegal war and America are committing more and more atrocities, if hundreds if not thousands of soldiers refused to fight that would send a huge message to the half of America who believe in this mass-slaughter of innocent people. When the world is getting crazier by the day it is people like Jeremy Hinzman who restore my hope in the world.

U.S. army deserter seeking refugee status in Canada

Jeremy Hinzman is seen as a deserter by the American military, but to his supporters he is a war resister and should be given refugee status in Canada.

US deserter's Canadian campaign
Vicious messages, mostly from Americans, have flooded the inbox of 25-year-old Jeremy Hinzman, an American soldier who deserted to seek refugee status in Canada after refusing to participate in the war in Iraq, which he has called a "criminal enterprise".

Rumsfeld questioned by U.S. Troops

American soldiers hurled hard questions at Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld when he visited Camp Buehring in Kuwait for a pep rally.

One soldier voiced his condemnation at the inadequate protection armoured vehicles have. "Why do we soldiers have to dig through local landfills for pieces of scrap metal and compromised ballistic glass to uparmour our vehicles?"

Loud cheers followed the question from the assembled crowd, mostly made up of National Guard and Reserve troops. And what was Mr Rumsfeld’s response? Oh, it seems as if he didn’t hear the question (even though 2,000 soldiers heard it perfectly clear) and asked the soldier to repeat the question.

Rumsfeld said: “You go to war with the army you have.” So they went to war with crappy vehicles. What was that about the U.S. military being the best in the world or something? He went on to say that the vehicle armour manufactures were cranking up production. Well, I must say for all the bad things Rummy does he still has his good points. I’m sure the troops are happy more protection is coming. And this early in the war!

But then Rummy also added that with all that added protection the tanks and vehicles could still be blown
up. Did you hear that, you’re all gonna die!!! You gotta love Rummy’s pep talks. I’m sure the troops just feel dandy!

Irony is alive and well…

America criticises Ukraine for election fraud,

Saddam Hussein is suing over human rights abuses towards the Iraqi people,

and Osama bin Laden attacks westerners who use illicit drugs.

I tell you, nobody could write this stuff!
